Sharks - Bulls

The Sharks Rugby Union is laughing all the way to the bank as the Absa Stadium sold out in record time yesterday . All 54000 seats have been snapped up by hungry rugby supporters. The first all SA Super 14 final since the competition’s inception in 1996! News 24 wrote:

Who would have thought – or believed rather – two years ago, that The Absa Stadium would be sold out a week before a match. “Some 54 000 seats. How can we ever try to explain to loyal fans there are simply no seats left in the stadium for sale?

“How is everyone thanked for the ongoing support? The only way is to deliver a trophy, and I can assure you the Sharks will be going all out to do just that this Saturday”, says coach Dick Muir, Sharks management and players.

Early on Monday the last tickets for the final were sold and Brian van Zyl, chief executive officer of the Sharks, apologised to disgruntled fans who could not secure a ticket.

    Hi I was one of the people that was in the queue from 02h30 in the morning my colleague and I were no 87 and 88 no 81 was the last person to get tickets therefore at 10 tickets per person the restriction placed by NRU that means they put 810 tickets on sale. We saw trouble brewing when they announced the restrictions, then a supervisor from NRU came out and said that tickets were going fast and if we wanted we could contact a company called Coyote as they were allocated 580 seats by the union and they were R800,00 each. I really think tickets that should be sold to loyal fans were allocated to companies such as coyote and this is wrong. I have been a Sharks supporter my whole life and I really am so mad at this situation that I am supporting the Blue Bulls on Saturday and really hope theSharks loose!!!!!!

    @Glenn

    Thats madness.. If I was a Sharks supporter day in and day out, been to all the matches, i would demand to have a ticket

    Then again if you were a Sharks fan shouldnt you have your season ticket booked since the beginning of the year?

    Yeah, isnt this like the 2nd stadium tickets controversy surrounding the NRU?? Remember that Nick Mallet-comment about the high ticket prices for that test against NewZealand a few years a back? Shaky, shaky…
