Possible shirt sponsors for Man Utd

aig.jpgPotential shirt sponsors have emerged for Manchester United following the withdrawal of current main shirt sponsors AIG.

AIG’s current four-year £56.5 million deal is set to expire in May 2010 and the failing US insurance company has confirmed they will not renew the deal due to the current financial crisis affecting the company.

Several multi-national businesses have been approached, with the club sending out sample United shirts complete with each company logo to show how they would look to potential sponsors.

Malaysian based company Air Asia are one of the favourites for the deal after CEO Tony Fernandes, a self-proclaimed West Ham fan, posted pictures on his blog wearing a sample shirt Man Utd sent the company as well as information on the benefits sponsoring the club.

Another picture making its rounds on the internet is one of a sample Manchester United shirt featuring the Tenaga Nasional Berhad logo, a power company also based in Malaysia. Other companies being linked with the deal include Saudi Telecom, Prudential and Sahara.
