Former Wales and British Lions player Gareth Thomas has recently announced his retirement from all things rugby after coming to the conclusion that he could no longer commit himself 100% to the sport. The announcement came from Thomas’s management company Distinct only four days before he was due to play for Wales against England in the Four Nations series.
Thomas was quoted as saying that ”If you can’t give 100% to rugby then you can’t do it justice. This is a sad day but I know that my time has come to an end as a player. My passion for the amazing game will never end or leave me, however.”
Thomas’s last game was in the Super League in July with the Wrexham-based Crusaders where following their demise, he was planning a surprise move to the Wigan Warriors.
Thomas remains the second most-capped Wales international rugby union player after his 100th capped record was recently beaten by Stephen Jones who won his 104th cap at the 2011 World Cup.
