Goal.com has reported that Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini wants to re-sign Daniel Sturridge for £10 million, taking advantage of his contract stalemate with Chelsea, and there is confidence that a deal could by closed imminently.
With just a year remaining on his contract with Chelsea Sturridge is considering his future after falling out of favour in the final months of the season and missing out on England’s Euro 2012 squad who arrived in Poland on Wednesday ahead of the championship.
Uncertainty over his future comes at a time when Chelsea are overhauling their attacking options by adding new signings including Eden Hazard and Marko Marin, while Kevin De Bruyne will also move permanently to Stamford Bridge ahead of the new campaign.
While Man City look to sign Sturridge for just over £10 million, Chelsea will demand about £12 million.
Sources have told Goal.com that the 22-year-old’s £65,000 a week Chelsea wages are not considered to be a problem by City.
